About Us . . .

Clustering of parishes might be considered modern—but not in our case! Althorne and Creeksea were united as one Benefice from 1795. In January 1980 the group of Crouch Valley Parishes was formed by the addition of Latchingdon and North Fambridge, the first joint Incumbent being the Revd. Vincent Castle (1915-2007).

As in many rural areas, there are no other places of Christian worship within our villages, and we seek to maintain a broad approach that is comfortable for those of various traditions.

Each of the five churches is lovingly cared for by its people, led by the churchwardens and Parochial Church Councils, and we are fortunate in having the support of a number of musicians to enrich our worship. Worship is primarily led by our two clergy, a full-time Rector and a retired priest with Permission to Officiate.

We hope to reach out into our local communities to share our experience of the love of God and to help people find that love in their own situations.

The Rector, Revd. Sandra Manley,
B.Mus., GRNCM, FRCO, ARCM, PGCE.
