Sunday 24th June 2018 —The Birth of John the Baptist

10 a.m. Joint Parishes’ Communion @ Stow Maries followed by refreshments in the Smythe Hall

Collect:

Almighty God, by whose providence your servant John the Baptist was wonderfully born,
and sent to prepare the way of your Son our Saviour by the preaching of repentance:
lead us to repent according to his preaching and, after his example,
constantly to speak the truth, boldly to rebuke vice, and patiently to suffer for the truth’s sake;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Prayers during this week:

Please pray for Denis Huntley and his team as they minister to the less abled within our diocese;

pray for the Church of Nigeria;

for those in Franklin Rd (NF) and Riverside Cottages (NF)

 those who are unwell including Jean B; Jean E; Kay; Gail; David; Vera; Jacqui; Richard; and John & Rusti, also those known to us personally; and the family and friends of those who have recently died including Mavourneen and Jim.

Today: 10-5 the Flower Festival continues in Althorne church.

Mon. 25th: 7.30 p.m. Smythe Hall committees

Tue. 26th: 7.30 p.m. Deanery Synod (Purleigh) to which Treasurers are invited (please make sure they are aware of this). Speaker: Mark Spraggins (Diocesan Finance Dept)

Wed.27th: 9.30 a.m. BCP Communion (A)

Thurs.28th: 2 p.m. Funeral of Mavourneen Foreman (A) followed by  refreshments in church hall; 7.30 p.m. PCC (CN)

Sun. 1st July: 8.45 a.m. Holy Communion (SMM); 10 a.m. Morning Praise (NF); 11.15 a.m. Parish Communion (A).

 

Congratulations to Stow Maries and helpers from other parishes for the result of last weekend’s concert—£792.40!!

Local building projects will bring more potential churchgoers, also new roads for our daily prayers. If you are aware of a new road/mews/court near you, please let Revd. Sandra know so that the prayer list can be kept up-to-date.

July 14th: Libby is holding a fundraising event in Maylandsea on July 14th, in aid of NF church. There will be riding, refreshments, and lots of fun for children and adults. For further details, contact Libby (Libby_34@hotmail.co.uk) or Revd. Sandra. There will also be a concert in A church that night, to relax to.

July 15th is Sea Sunday and there will be a joint (non-Eucharistic) service at North Fambridge riverside with the Sea Scouts—all welcome for 10 a.m.—you may wish to bring a garden chair or blanket.
